Introduction of the retro look
Retro, petite for the retrospective,
the style took their inspiration from the past. The first half of the decade
saw the reintroduction of 1960s and 1970’s revival styles (from miniskirts
& flares to hippy styles, platforms and punk), futuristic cyberpunk looks,
eco-fashion, ethnic styles, grunge, school uniforms and sportswear and a
collection of upgraded subcultural style, such as catwalk, teddy boys, surfers,
raga and b-boys. The predominance of retro expectant the spread of second-hand
clothing shops, selling American workwear and period styles for the fashion
conscious and in cheap, durable clothing for the less well-off.
